life on mars...

i was a fan of the show "life on mars". come to find out it has been canceled. in my search to find out the details... i came to find out that it was actually a rip off of the BBC show of the same name. http://tinyurl.com/26d3te

i think it's funny how some of the best shows of this decade have been rip offs of the BBC and others. it's true, there is nothing new under the sun.

i'll admit it... i have an affinity for ripping off others work. i was taught that it was the dirty little secret of youth ministry. but, it appears that it's the norm.

creativity takes space to think and create. all too often we don't have the time to create something new, so we steal.

mark driscoll's rant...

you don't hear "preaching" like this... well, almost ever in the church.

one of the things that bothers me most about "today's" pastors is that they don't speak with authority. as to the video below, you can love it or hate it but you can't say that it doesn't assert authority on a topic that needs a biblical worldview.

most of the people coming on a weekend are looking to be challenged, not informed. we like to expound on the what god has been teaching us in our devotional time... or a spin on a scripture that they have heard a thousand times. we like to teach... and sometimes the life changing power of scripture is simply watered down to "insights". we don't think that the crowds will gather if we are too confrontational.

jesus' teachings are not meant to be understood as simply inspirational... they are controversial, uncomfortable and in your face.
